‘We have some plans for Tallywag in the future. We’ve been getting a lot of advice. People who are using it are quite vocal about what they want and what they don’t want and we are taking some of those ideas and I’m really excited to see where it goes.
Right now I’m loving Paper. With our next app that we are working on right know, code-named Phoenix, we definitely are looking at Paper and what it has taught people. I love the ‘no interface’ thing, totally chromeless and no boot up screen.
There was another app that we were working on. I tried to design what it would be in the physical world if the iPhone didn’t exist. I think that’s a really interesting idea. Trying to figure out what the device would be without the iPhone was a lot of fun. I actually used Paper to draw it out and plan out the whole 3D object as if it would exist in the real world. My wife thought that I was completely insane, but it was a great exercise. I learned a lot about how people may use it a little bit differently.
When I look at some of those pro apps, I don’t even understand half of them. Especially those drawing apps on iPad like Sketchbook Pro, I don’t even have a clue on where to begin in that program. There are so many sliders, like they’re trying to recreate Photoshop, I don’t get that.
I think it is a trend to try to nail a market by dumbing down the feature sets and letting people have fun.’
